|About the Book|
A story of three families living on the Nova Scotia Atlantic shore. It begins in 1919 with four young people: Anse Gordon and his sister Anna, Hazel McKee and Grant Marshall. Grant and Anna struggle to overcome religious differences in their relationship, while Anse and Hazels friendship is based on their mutual unhappiness. We follow their story over several generations, a time period which shows how individuals discover that they are not really free to make their own decisions. As members of a community they are part of a network of family and social situations and therefore develop their life vision through a blend of freedom and choice.
